This is a wonderful, flavorful Italian meal called Pollo All'Arribbiata (Chicken in Angry Sauce). I received the recipe in Italy last fall. Basically this dish is a braised chicken (dark meat) in a spicy tomato sauce using an assortment of peppers, onion, garlic and herbs.

Is the arribbiata sauce just spicy or spicy hot?

I can almost smell it from here!

Sonia, this one is spicy hot but you can control the peppers you use if you don't want it hot. I've made it several times and it works well with mild peppers too.

Debbie, thanks. Yep the sauce is angry and so tasty. I will try write up the recipe sometime next week or maybe sooner if I can find the time. Right now it's the original with all sorts of notes in the margins from trying it out several different ways.

OH Magi, that it is! Lots of heat from the peppers and a wonderfully warm meal with chicken in a tasty sauce. Can't beat that in cold weather, eh?

Jan, thanks and I understand. You can control the heat depending upon the peppers you choose from yellow bell pepper to red to green bells or hotter with anaheim, poblano, serrano or jalapeno. This would be lost with habanero peppers because it obliterates chicken to the point where you can't taste the protein so it's a waste of ingredients. So, this recipe works no matter what...it's a great blend of peppers and chicken and makes a fine wintery nights meal.
