chimichurri,burger,bbq,barbeque,dinner,food essential,cuisine,nutrition,slaw,hamburger,lunch
Chimichurri Burger with onions, cilantro, bell peppers, garlic and spices. Topped with a heap of cabbage-carrot slaw and then finished with charred red onion and tomatoes. (I think I found the recipe in Gourmet magazine about 7-8 years ago)

Is the chimichurri mixed with the ground beef? I've had it served as a pouring or dipping sauce for meats but haven't seen it used as part of the seasonings...Interesting and I bet delicious!

Sonia, yes, the chimichurri is cooked and then added to the beef. The kicker is that it's topped with a creamy cabbage-carrot slaw-and then the charred onion and tomoto- and then there's also a sauce to go on the bun. Really a mouthful.

Wow. I have never eaten cooked chimichurri...always fresh. I bet the flavors really meld to become very intense by cooking.

The whole dish does sound like a mouthful!

Believe me when I say that there was only 1/4 of a burger leftover. Amazing how fast these disappear.
