You can find out how healthy eating can help lower your blood pressure. Did you know that cutting down on salt and eating no more than 6g a day could lower blood pressure by 2-8mmHg? Just a caution to watch all that salt added to food. A high salt diet is a cause of high blood pressure. Many studies show that people who reduce salt in their food enjoy a lower blood pressure and are less likely to suffer stroke or heart disease - associated with high blood pressure. One way to encourage a low salt diet is to make your own hampers as gifts - this article give some great ideas about making Christmas hampers that you can carefully choose the foods and drinks that they contain. </div>

-- Bonjour! Occasionally I add ground cinnamon to a cup of coffee. I like the suggestion in Martha's Nov. '09 LIVING magazine to combine cinnamon, ginger, & nutmeg to add spice to pumpkin bread, zucchini bread, etc. This blend plus (brown) sugar can be sprinkled on buttered toast. --

I love food. Possibly too much, as my expanding girth will attest! Anyway - yes, just to second what Amanda says cutting down on salt in your diet is really advisable. My uncle has had a lot of health problems associated with his salt-heavy diet.

-- Do you drink coffee? How do you prepare it? Where do you consume it? Do you prefer to buy it at convenience store or coffee house? Do you sip it from a travel mug or espresso cup? Being unemployed allows me to boil water for two servings instant coffee at home. I don't need to carry money. I drink coffee from empty instant coffee jars. To one serving I replace a teaspoon of instant coffee with cocoa. Always I add pure Vt. maple syrup, molasses, or brown sugar to sweeten the drink & a splash of milk to lighten it. --

There are a couple of flavors I've had at Starbucks I would love to try with coffee and not pay high prices for. The 2 that really stand out to my tastes are White Chocolate Mocha and Valencia Orange Mocha. Each have their times and places to enjoy. I can even envision how I would try to make them.

Try adding a new twist to some old recipes by adding flavored coffee-mate. My children like my oatmeal cookies with fat free cinnamon vanilla creme coffee-mate added in the mix. oatmeal cookies 3/4 cup margarine or butter preheat oven to 375 In a mixing bowl beat margarine or butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add about half of the flour, the brown sugar, sugar, egg, baking powder, vanilla, and baking soda am the fat free cinnamon vanilla creme. Beat till thoroughly combined. Beat in remaining flour. Stir in oats. Drop by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375 oven for 10 to 12 minutes or till edges are golden. Cool cookies on a wire rack.

Andy, how about sautee-ing some swiss chard with onions and garlic?
Spinach and potatoes are always good for kids. Another idea is to bake/roast some zucchini . You can combine shredded carrots, zucchini, potatoes with some egg and breadcrumbs to make vegetable pancakes (spray with Pam and bake in the oven on parchment paper).

Hi, folks
My name is Nick. I’ve been with “Gather” for a while now, but I didn’t go back to check postings. Several years ago I had a bad time digesting more or less anything I been eating. I’ve seen many specialists, did all the tests possible, but doctors found nothing wrong. A couple years ago, someone got my email and sent me a link to take a look at this web site named Melaleuca.com, and boy I’m glad I did! I don’t know how many of you, or other you might know have some health problems, but I assure you if you go and visit this site you’ll be glad you did. This is a wellness based company and is right here in our country. I am not trying to sell your folks anything because I don’t have a product, I only wish to spread the good news (wellness and good feelings) I encounter since I decided to take this products from this company. It’s up to you to see if you may need any of their products. If any of you decide to visit, just go to Melaleuca.com and at the bottom of page click on Melaleuca Product Store then click on welcome guest and next page is a free presentation (link). Password is: new horizons. I will be glad to get some feedback on Gather web page, or you can email me with your stories. PS I see everyone is talking about our crises, but if you are sick what is that good for? Wish you all good things. |
