When it's pizza night at my house, we reach for DiGiorno. Being a health-conscious wife, I like to pair a vitamin-packed salad with our gooey pizza indulgence. Not sure what to serve with pizza? Here are four of my go-to salads I like to whip up while the pizzas bake.
1. Sour Three-Bean Salad
The perfect complement to the sweet tomato sauce on DiGiorno pizzas is a lip-puckering sour salad. Start by tossing together one can each of wax beans, kidney beans and green beans. In a separate bowl whisk together the dressing. Use 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar, 1/3 sup raw sugar granules and 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil. Then, toss in half of a small, chopped red onion. Dress the salad and you're ready for dinner!
2. Rainbow Tossed Salad
One of my goals is to always serve a rainbow. This goal is super easy when making a fresh, crunchy tossed salad. Start by tearing a head of dark green romaine lettuce in a serving bowl. Then add chopped red tomatoes, sliced orange sweet bell peppers, cubes of yellow cheddar cheese, rings of red onion, a handful of whole black olives and a drizzle of Italian dressing.
3. Creamy Pasta Salad
On a cold winter evening there's nothing better than curling up with a hot DiGiorno Pizza and a creamy pasta salad. To keep this recipe simple, I start with a boxed pasta salad. Choose a zesty ranch or creamy Italian flavor to pair with the pizza. Then, add a cup of thawed frozen green peas and chopped Roma tomatoes. Toss lightly and serve with pizza.
4. Italian Quinoa Salad
To add extra protein to the meal, I reach for quinoa. This small, rice-like grain is perfect as a side salad. To give the salad an Italian flair, I stir cubes of tomato and avocado into cooked and cooled quinoa. Then I drizzle the salad with extra virgin olive oil and chopped garlic. Bon Appetite!
Next time it's pizza night at your house, warm up the oven. Consumers can get two fresh-baked DiGiorno pizzas for the same price as one delivery pizza. According to a recent national survey conducted by KRC Research, more than 70 percent of U.S. consumers say they would purchase two frozen pizzas versus one delivery pizza if the cost was the same.
