New! Krusteaz Pound Cake Mix

Sassy usually buys Dromedary Pound Cake mix, but Krusteaz Pound Cake mix was on sale for .99, regularly priced $2.39.  Add 1/3 cup water, 2 eggs and a stick of melted butter and you're baking yummy pound cake.

Krusteaz tastes almost as good as Dromedary, but the texture is much more coarse and dry.  Since the regular prices of the two brands are about the same, I'll continue to buy Dromedary.

On a scale of one to ten, Sassy awards Krusteaz Pound Cake mix a 4.  I doubt I'll be buying this again unless it goes on super-sale.

I have never made pound cake from a mix. At least you got to try another brand to find out you have been buying the better one all along. Thanks for sharing your experience.

If you make pound cake from scratch you'll never go back to mix. Dromedary is the best mix IMHO though. I prefer "wedding pound cake" if making it from scratch, so if you search for a good recipe you may like this one.

I've never made pound cake from a mix. It's so easy to do from scratch and I like to control the sugar content. Try it sometime and I bet you'll never use a mix again.

I won a package of the Tastefully Simple's Absolutely Almond Cake at one of their houseparties.
They had some to try and I thought it was good, but found the Almond flavor too strong for my taste.
Since I have it I'll fix it using buttermilk instead of water and I'm trying to hink of another ingredient to tone down the almond flavor.

Not sure why, but I can't recall making pound cake either, but do like it. I've had some other Krusteaz products that I liked though.

The kitty is back! If you want to try a mix, buy Dromedary, it's much softer cake.

Good to know, Sassy. I love pound cake, but have never found a really good mix, so I mostly do them from scratch.
The Tastefully Simple is the best I've tried yet, but too pricey for me.
