My local Cub Foods store has snow crab legs on sale for $4.99 a pound! My kids LOVE crab legs, as well as other seafood. So this weekend, we are going to have "Red Lobster" dinners. I have shrimp to make shrimp scampi as well. And I also have some No-Name salmon. I make pretty good cheddar-garlic biscuits, we have potatoes and veggies. Yum!
I've never made crab legs at home before, but it's certainly cheaper than the restaurant. My coworker said to keep them frozen, get a pot of water boiling, and put them in for exactly 9 minutes. He eats them with his wife about once a month, I think. So I hope that works well. And then of course, melted butter with a touch of garlic to dip them in!
Have you ever made crab legs or lobster at home? How did you prepare it?

I don't think I've ever known a kid that liked crab legs. I love them with melted butter, but I've never made them at home.
Wow - what a deal!
Yes, boil them. Add a couple of Bay leaves for flavor! They are so easy to prepare and will be much better than Red Lobster's.
Yum, I love crab legs
I have rarely cooked shell fish myself, except shrimp, but that is a good deal, get lots of it, I think it freezes well.
It is a good deal.
I think you boil it, but I don't eat them..
sounds like a great deal! i could really go for some crab legs right now as a matter of fact
boil in salt water that is.....yummy! don't forget the butter, real butter is a must!!
What time and I'm gonna need to get some directions!!!!!!!!
Enjoy!!!!!if I don't make it in time(lol)
i love crab legs and lobster...and all other types of seafoods. I would boil the crab legs and serve with butter. I once had it at a local restaurant and I think they baked them in tin foil. let us know how they taste. yum!
I have a hard time getting the meat out of the leg,
I've become really good at it with practice. You should see my 8-year-old daughter! She gets nice big chunks of meat out of them.
That is a great deal..I love crab legs.
Do your biscuits taste like Red Lobster? Could you post a recipe?
They taste pretty close! I will post the recipe later.
We don't really do crab or lobster. We really like fish at my house.
My husband steams the king crab legs over a pot of boiling beer and butter ... but snow crab is a lot different than king crab. Snow crab takes waaaaay too much time to open up for not so much meat.
Snow crab tastes sweeter though. I've only had king crab a couple of times. It's usually more expensive.
I don't eat seafood but I'm sure your kids are gonna love you if you make them a meal they like. My hubby used to work at Red Lobster but I don't know if he ever made the crab legs...
you can bake, broil, steam or boil lobster,
but snow crab is best steamed or boiled.
We love crab legs. We usually do King Crab though. We boil them and add Old Bay Crab/shrimp seasoning in a bag ( I think that's what's it called). You must have melted Real butter for dipping. We have corn on the cob and baked potatoe when we do ours.
I have Old Bay seasoning in a jar. Maybe if I just sprinkle some in the water, that will add a little flavor?
boil and lots of butter for dipping! Yum! Can I come? :)
yummy, when i get them i just get the grocery store to steam it with oldbay
I have never made them but man that sounds good. I wish our stores had them on sale
You can all come over!! LOL
Delicious! I make them like your co-worker does.
I've made crab legs before....it's very easy and doesn't take long at all. Hmm...all the Cub Foods went out here years ago...bummer.
So, what time is dinner??? LOL
Awesome !:)
If you invite me I will cook for you ,,,, he he he
I just found out a year ago that I am allergic to crab and I don't know about lobster. Shrimp is OK, though. I really don't like shellfish anyway.
Great deal.
we love crabs lol but we live in MD so we eat crabs a lot especially the MD blue crab. Snow crab legs are a fav. of mine they are sooo good
Oh that sounds great!!! My hubbys family is very religious and on Christmas eve we have Holy Supper. One year, our Aunt Kathy made TONS of seafood. She made HUGE crab legs, and I do believe how you described them is how she prepared them! They were in a huge pot on the stove for a short time and then in my belly!
I love crab legs but that is just wayyyy too much work for such a small amount of meat. LOL
Crab is one of my favorite foods.... I have NEVER seen them that cheap! Enjoy!!!
I have no idea what they cost here...or if they are even sold....we are definitely not seafood eaters
YUMMY
King crab is $12.99/pound this week. I'm glad I scored the $4.99 snow crab when I did. I hope they have it that cheap again sometime.
