Thanksgiving side dish recipes: Sausage stuffing recipe

Mom's always popular sausage stuffing. I eat more of this than anything else at turkey time.

1 box stuffing
1 small onion, chopped
2 stalks of celery, chopped
1/2 lb. bulk sausage
1 T. butter
1 chicken bouillon cube (dissolved in 1 c. hot water)

Saute onion, celery and sausage in butter til sausage is cooked. Add stuffing and bouillon mixture, and extra water just to moisten, if needed. Scoop in to a buttered baking dish and bake uncovered til heated through (30-45 minutes at 350°).

You can add sage or other seasonings if desired. Mom never does.

sounds delicious Shannon. Makes me remember my mom's stuffing, she had no "box" of stuffing to start with though, she started with fresh bread, which she had to "stale" and then cube.... makes me remember how it tasted though, good memory!! Thanks for evoking that for me

you won't even miss the celery. you can always sprinkle in some celery seed if you have it.

i made some almost 2 weeks ago. they were falling off the bone! cooked them in the slow cooker and then threw them in the oven with some BBQ sauce for a bit. delish! even picky polly was raving about them for days! i felt so bad because i wasnt sure about them so i bought 2 mini slabs. but this time i bought about 10, already cut.

Oh man, I love 'em slow cooked. I like them on the grill too, but for some reason the slow cooker is my fave. You can also shred the meat up and make a bbg sammich with some coleslaw or potato salad. Delish!

I love sausage. I'll have to make this sometime. I always put my stuffing in the bird. I love it best that way.
